Starting today, anyone can design and launch a custom Shopify storefront by chatting with the Replit Agent. Describe the store you want, and Agent generates a custom front end, creates a new Shopify store, and adds your products from the same conversation. When you're ready to sell, claim the store in Shopify, activate payments, and use Replit to deploy your storefront to a domain. From the first prompt to taking real orders is roughly ten minutes.
Why we built this
Replit builders already ship real software, from internal tools, to side projects, to full businesses. But selling physical products is different: managing physical inventory, fulfillment, tax compliance, shipping, and multi-channel selling. Shopify is the gold standard for that, powering retail businesses of every size. What was missing was a way to design a storefront for Shopify with the same conversational workflow Replit builders already use for everything else.
That's what this integration adds: a beautifully designed front end generated from a prompt, with Shopify provisioned, configured, and managed from inside Replit itself. You describe what you want, and Agent builds it. The result is yours to refine, backed by Shopify's commerce infrastructure end to end.
How it works
Most of the experience happens inside Replit. You'll only need to visit Shopify once to sign in or create an account, claim your store, set up payments, and publish. After that, you can build your storefront, manage products, and run your store directly from Replit.
1. Tell Agent what you want to sell
Start a new project and describe the store you want to build. You can mention Shopify explicitly, but Agent will also recommend Shopify on its own when you describe selling a physical good. From there, Agent walks you through creating a new Shopify store directly in the conversation.
2. Claim the store and set up Shopify
A link to claim your store will appear in chat and be sent to your email. Head to Shopify using that link, create an account if you don't already have one (otherwise just sign in), claim the store Agent created for you, set up payments, and publish. There's a lot more you can do in Shopify if you want to, but you don't have to! Once that's done, you can return to Replit and stay there.
3. Let Agent build your storefront
With the store claimed and connected, Agent designs and builds the storefront against it. Every part of the storefront is editable through conversation: copy, layout, animations, product pages, navigation. Ask Agent to change something and it does; the depth is in the conversation itself.
4. Manage products and refine the store from Replit
From this point on, you can stay in Replit. Create new product listings, update names, descriptions, prices, and images, launch a new collection, or refine any part of the storefront. Shopify handles checkout, inventory, and order management in the background. Replit is where you design, build, and operate the storefront.
What makes a Shopify storefront built on Replit different
If you've set up an online store before, you know the usual path: browse a theme library, pick a template that looks closest to what you want, then spend hours tweaking colors, fonts, and sections inside a visual editor to make it feel like yours. Bigger changes often mean either hiring a developer or living with the template's defaults. The result is a store that's functional, but recognizably built from the same handful of starting points as everyone else's.
A Shopify storefront built on Replit starts from a different place. There's no theme to pick. Agent generates the storefront per your stylistic guidance: the brand, the products, the feel you describe. Every design choice, like typography, layout, motion, and product page structure, is something you can change by asking. With Replit Canvas, you can explore variants until you find the one that speaks to you most. And because every storefront is a real Replit project underneath, it scales with you: add a blog, a wishlist, a loyalty program, custom landing pages, or anything else you can describe.
