A clear path forward

How do I get my existing repository running in Replit?

Start at Repos, connect your Git account and ask Agent to run the repository you want to change. A repository, or repo, is where your team keeps its code.

Agent prepares a cloud sandbox: a separate place to run the app while you work. This lets you try the real app without moving its production hosting.

  1. Open Repos in the workspace where you want to work. Choose GitHub or GitLab and complete the connection flow.
  2. Select or share the full URL of a repo your account can read.
  3. Ask Agent: “Get this repository running in Replit so I can make a change.”
  4. Open the preview link and check that the app loads and its main task works.

You do not need to save a reusable Development Environment before this first run. If the app needs a secret, enter its value only through the secure form Agent provides, not in chat. If the app does not start, ask Agent to check the setup error and server logs before making your change.

Copy this prompt and paste it into Agent. For a project issue, open the project where it happens first. Add what happened and anything you've already tried. Don't include passwords, API keys, database connection strings or payment-card details.

Copying does not open Agent or send a support request. Agent availability and usage depend on your account.
