Creating an email bot
james12jimmy (4)

I want to create something that will automatically send an email out for me everyday at 5:00 PM. All I’d have to do is type the email address and change the appointment time within the email. I know it sounds dumb but it would make my work a little easier and a lot smoother. How would I go about that?

My first thought is - what programming language(s) do you know? If python, Automate the Boring Stuff in Python comes to mind - the bit about sending emails is in chapter 16. Let me know if this was helpful for you! His books are quite fantastic and they're all free online.

To be honest I’m currentl learning Python and so that might be harder than the level that I’m at but I’m also a pretty determined type. The downside is that I did try automate the boring stuff but my work account is with gmail and they have a block on it. Any other ideas? @timmy_i_chen

And I mean that last bit I’m the nicest way. I just realized how rude it [email protected]_i_chen

@james12jimmy No worries! Didn't seem rude at all. I think the best way forward is to learn up to that level, since emails can be a tricky thing and when email sending goes wrong, it can go oh so horribly wrong. :P

So I’m at about the same level with Java would that be a different approach or in your professional opinion should I finish one language and then do the [email protected]_i_chen

@james12jimmy You should definitely make sure you at least know the basics before you abandon a language for another

@james12jimmy Whoops, missed this message! It will 100% be easier with python. Keep going with python if this is your end goal.
