A clear path forward
My app can't make requests to external APIs—what should I check?
Check the deployment logs first to see whether an outgoing request is blocked or redirected, rather than failing in your code.

Then check these possible causes:
- Request addresses: look for hard-coded development addresses or calls back to your app's own public address. Check that the request reaches the intended service. Browser requests to the same app can use relative paths; choose an appropriate environment-based address for other request contexts.
- Build-time requests: make outgoing calls when the app runs, rather than during its build.
- Network restrictions: if you are using a corporate or school network, ask its administrator whether the relevant connections are blocked.
If requests remain blocked, keep the relevant log lines ready. Remove secret values before sharing them.

When: The listed causes do not explain the problem and requests are still blocked.
Have ready:
- Relevant log lines, with secret values removed
