A clear path forward

How do I connect my team's GitHub repositories to a Replit workspace?

Use the "Replit GitHub App" to enable shared access to your team’s repositories. This is separate from the "GitHub" connection that lets you work with repositories and pull requests using your personal GitHub account.

A Replit workspace admin configures access in Replit. A GitHub organization owner or someone with the required permissions must install or approve the App on GitHub. These are separate roles: being a Replit workspace admin does not grant GitHub administrator permissions.

  1. Switch to the intended Replit workspace and open "Repos" (https://replit.com/repos). Open "Manage" for GitHub.
  2. Find the "GitHub App" section. If "Connect" is shown, complete the App sign-in, then select "Configure" to manage workspace access.
  3. Select :Add GitHub organization" and complete GitHub’s installation or approval flow. Choose the intended organization and grant access only to the repositories your team needs. If the App is already installed for that organization, skip to the next step.
  4. Return to Replit and select "Refresh" if the organization is not listed. Select "Enable" beside the organization to enable its repository access for this workspace.
  5. Confirm that the organization shows "Enabled" and that the intended repositories are available.

Installing the App on GitHub and enabling the organization in Replit are separate steps. Shared workspace access allows environment builds to fetch approved repositories without relying on an individual’s active chat session.

If a repository is missing, check both that the organization is enabled in the correct Replit workspace and that the GitHub App installation includes that repository.
