Taco Uptime! A new way to keep your projects online without the hassle of pinging services
h
carcraftz (26)

Taco Uptime isn't a run of the mill pinging service. It requires no sign-ups, no payment, nothing. Adding a project takes just one click.

To add a project just simply paste in your project url button, add an email (OPTIONAL) for notifications, click go, and you're done!

codingjlu (241)

codingjlu (241)

@carcraftz put your private stuff in a .env file

brokentoken (58)

sure! invite me to a repl?... @codingjlu

brokentoken (58)

or you can help me code a markdown editor wich I'm making. @codingjlu

codingjlu (241)

@brokentoken my invite button disappeared... what langs do you do?

brokentoken (58)

frontend html, node js, python, a little PHP @codingjlu

codingjlu (241)

@brokentoken cool... I do a little node too (and a lot of php and html and css and js/jquery lol) and like 0 python (although I know a bit)

brokentoken (58)

codingjlu (241)

@brokentoken some cool website that can do stuff? lol

carcraftz (26)

@brokentoken

Thank you for letting me know :/ I actually did move credentials over from the config.json to an env file but forgot to delete the json before posting. passwords have been changed.

brokentoken (58)

YAAAAY! thanks and your welcome. @carcraftz

carcraftz (26)

This has been getting a bit of abuse, with people entering some ... NSFW sites and more.

I'll add some restrictions but nothing that will affect 99% of users

AntimatterDev (40)

imma try this out with my new discord bot

carcraftz (26)

@IntellectualGuy Appreciate it!

They're stolen from my other project :P https://niny.io

IntellectualGuy (825)

@carcraftz I know this sounds like a weird request but I'm making a project, do you want to join?

carcraftz (26)

@IntellectualGuy I would love to but unfortunately, I don't have the time atm :(

EpicGamer007 (1736)

it doesnt work anymore :( i cant access the webpage

carcraftz (26)

@EpicGamer007 Pinging service is still running. For some reason, cloudflare dns screwed up the subdomain, so the frontend is down. Working on it.

KaiDiscord (0)

Shut it DOWN! I see another comment and I also see the email and pass!!!!

At leased put it in .env to protect ;)

ErrorNoInternet (18)

Wait... what about removing links?
Keeping cookies for "accounts"? Storing IP address along with the entered links (disallow VPNs)?

carcraftz (26)

@ErrorNoInternet

Removing links -> I can look into implementing this, for now you can just re enter the website without an email to turn off alerts

Storing IP address -> A bit invasive and there's no need for this

Keeping cookies for accounts -> This would defeat the entire purpose of the project, which is to reduce the annoying account creation and too many clicks associated with current pinging services

Whippingdot (662)

Don't understand what a pinging service is...but nice anyway

SeamusDonahue (457)

it pings something to keep it up. for example, if you make a discord bot using repl.it (replit.com), it will stay up for a short period then go down, but a pinging service can ping an attached webapp (using flask or node or something like that, that makes a url for your repl) to keep it running. @Whippingdot

EpicGamer007 (1736)

This works amazingly I absolutely love it. Thank you for making this :)

AntimatterDev (40)

how are you storing the url's you are keeping up?

carcraftz (26)

@AntimatterDev The code is open source but for now they're stored in repldb

AntimatterDev (40)

@carcraftz ah. if people were to want to make their own on their own servers instead of on repl.it they could transfer it to sqlite or some other database.

figglediggle (140)

this is kinda redundant tbh with always on added to repl

elburg (41)

@figglediggle but what about the people without the hacker plan?

carcraftz (26)

@figglediggle I actually am a user of the hacker plan! The main limitation is you can only keep 5 projects up, which is a major limitation.
