🌎 Earth in ThreeJS (With Bump Map) 🌎
Earth Rendered Using ThreeJS
So um, I don’t want to talk about. My ThreeJS is very bad as you can see xD. I use Blender often so I did decide to incorporate a Bump Map and make the Earth actually look nice.
Click here for fullscreen! (This won’t work if you don’t have WebGL)
This is kinda my first ThreeJS project so please be nice in the comments. Any tips or tricks in ThreeJS let me know. Should I make more for other planets?

wow nice! Took a while to render but the bumpmaps and stuff are very interesting
@realTronsi thank you xD. My first try actually making something with ThreeJS, but honestly its so complex. I don’t understand how much effort those Minecraft clones put into their games xD.
@RayhanADev minecraft clones don't use threejs. They typically use WebGL or OpenGL, and it's a lot more flexible.
@realTronsi well I used WebGL too because ThreeJs uses WebGL.
@RayhanADev ah, well webGL and openGL are a lot faster than threejs btw. Normal minecraft runs at like 60fps with just a normal cheap laptop at $500-$600
@realTronsi lol this thing runs 17-22fps on my iPad (me not using a computer like a normal person 🤦♀️)
@RayhanADev it runs like 15fps on my MacBook Pro :/
@realTronsi hahahaa my iPad better than your MacBook RIP.
@RayhanADev I expanded map size from 2000, 2000 to 3000, 3000
@realTronsi Nice, that sounds much better (like 50% bigger xD, great!) 👍.
@RayhanADev no it is 225% bigger
@realTronsi o.o
Me: Pulls out calculator (casually closes Pokemon)
Me: Types in equation but knows its wrong
Me: You’re right xD
@realTronsi SortaCraft?
Very cool! I love how it's so smooth
@BCP haha thank you xD! I love how you’re going through all my old posts lol.
@RayhanADev Yeah just checking them out
nice earth but something about looks wrong idk what
maybe its the way u put the texture on
is it a 2d or 3d texture
very good anyways
How do you use this?
@KirikAltekar hmm, wdym?
What do you all think? Good, bad? Let me know!
Nicely done! The bump maps really do add to the entire effect. Maybe you could make the light rotate around the earth to simulate the day-night cycle?
@SixBeeps thank you xD and that’s a better idea! Right now the Earth and clouds rotate by themselves and I have a lamp for sunlight but that sounds much more interesting. Also, we have our BramJam submission if you want to check it out.
