You often don't have to resort to third-party apps to clean up your Mac's memory. Back in 2016, macOS Sierra introduced a useful feature called Storage Optimization. By following its tips, you can free up quite a lot of memory on your drive. I, for example, got as much as 35 gigabytes of disk space in a few seconds. Considering that I have a MacBook with 256 GB of memory, this is a significant saving. I discovered the storage optimization section completely by accident. When I went to Apple's About This Mac - Storage menu, I saw that the computer already had about 90 GB of space. This was pretty strange, considering the computer was only a few weeks old and no resource-intensive applications had been installed.
