Why are all my repls slow?
RYANTADIPARTHI (6018)

Hi,

all of my repls are slow when I run them. They take a very long time to execute and even work. Some are not even working.

Is replit having some problem or something?

Please let me know.

Thanks!

replit recently had an outage, and the servers have been really really bad recently. But now it should be working?

Anyways, here are some languages that currently work poorly:

  • nodejs
  • python

try some other language like bash
https://replit.com/@Coder100/SpiffyYoungDegrees-aeouaeo-uae-oua-eoaeo-aeo#main.py

RYANTADIPARTHI (6018)

@Coder100 ah, thanks, i'm using django, which is python. So anyways, do you know when it will start working again?

Coder100 (18185)

when,
well that depends when replit can actually restart their servers back up again.

I would say in a week, but for now, just port your code to bash. That is the only language that actually runs in decent time. @RYANTADIPARTHI

RYANTADIPARTHI (6018)

@Coder100 oh, so you say in about a week? Ok thanks! But django can't be ported. Python sure, but not django, so I guess I'll just wait.

Thanks!

Coder100 (18185)

@RYANTADIPARTHI yeah sorry about that

but try considering developing something like django locally

should also be easier to use :)

RYANTADIPARTHI (6018)

@Coder100 wdym django locally? You mean not in replit?

JonDoeBeep (42)

@RYANTADIPARTHI yes, like on your own computer.

RYANTADIPARTHI (6018)

@JonDoeBeep Hmm, i'm using chromebook, so everything is blocked, and i don't have any own computers yet.

JonDoeBeep (42)

@RYANTADIPARTHI google collab may work for you then

JonDoeBeep (42)

@RYANTADIPARTHI Kinda like an online Jupyter notebook
i think they use the same file type (.ipynb)

RYANTADIPARTHI (6018)

@JonDoeBeep oh. i don't think Jupyter has django.

Coder100 (18185)

that's more like jupyter imo @JonDoeBeep

RYANTADIPARTHI (6018)

@JonDoeBeep it's not really an ideal place. Django takes a lot, and is not sufficient in Jupyter. But now that i try repl.it, it seems to be working fine enough. I'm still not sure though.

JonDoeBeep (42)

@Coder100 yes but in your browser.

RYANTADIPARTHI (6018)

@Coder100 my repls only work normally (fast) at 9:00 AM and 8:00 PM for some reason. Other than those timings, it is slow. Why? I thought they fixed the outage issue?

Coder100 (18185)

same here
I bet it has something to do with their servers
maybe the good servers go down after that time @RYANTADIPARTHI

RYANTADIPARTHI (6018)

@Coder100 oh so you have the same problem? Also, if they still have the server problem, then do you know when it will be fixed?

RYANTADIPARTHI (6018)

@Coder100 hi, i was wondering if you could make me a chat app in node.js. here is a requirement

  • it must save the chat message. So when I close the tab, and come back after any amount of time, the chat messages from before should still be there.

The design and all can be your choice, just make it neat and good. I'm thinking of linking that chat app to my project that I'm working on.

So please let me know when you are done.

Thanks!

Because bad internet connection or because of the free plan from Replit.

RYANTADIPARTHI (6018)

@ZhongRietveld No, not connections issues. Also i don't think it's the free plan either. Seem my comment below.

JonDoeBeep (42)

I think it is because they give a person without hacker plan less ram and cpu speed then the hacker plan people
EX:
Starter plan(free) has 500mb of storage,
500mb of memory(ram)
0.2-0.5 virtual CPUs

RYANTADIPARTHI (6018)

@JonDoeBeep yes, but all my repls though. All my repls are like 2kb, 5kb, etc.

Every other time I open them, they work perfectly fine, but now, they are slow.

Why?

ZhongRietveld (30)

@RYANTADIPARTHI Okay the problem is the free plan, but i have no problems. I think it's what you're are running, so is the code light to process it's less slower when you're code is not light to process it's runs slower.

RYANTADIPARTHI (6018)

@ZhongRietveld My repls are like 2kb, and 5kb. One is 1.4mb. I recall, the storage is 500mb. Neither of my repls are even close to the limit. So there is no reason to be slow. So I don't think that's the problem. Do you have any other ideas?

ZhongRietveld (30)

@RYANTADIPARTHI With slow do you mean the installs are slow or the program that runs after the installs or both?

RYANTADIPARTHI (6018)

@ZhongRietveld uh, I think everything is slow.

CoolDude9000 (6)

@ZhongRietveld yea this seems to be a outage with free plan members. I'm perfectly fine.

RYANTADIPARTHI (6018)

@CoolDude9000 no, i'm pretty sure it's what coder100 said. You can check his comment.

CoolDude9000 (6)

@RYANTADIPARTHI ik what he said. I'm saying more so others can find more info. And I'm just here confirming that it appears that the hacker plan is not affected. Teams might not be effected either.

RYANTADIPARTHI (6018)

@CoolDude9000 idk. he didn't mention plans. He just said it's python and node.js
