What are cycles?
So basically I keep on seeing people talk about cycles. Can i get an answer please.
Cycles are the repl.it equivalent of Reddit karma, StackExchange reputation points, and mainstream social media likes. Basically, useless internet points for bragging rights. You earn these by getting upvoted (1 cycle) or answering questions (5 cycles).
Cycles are basically reputation points to rank yourself in the community. This is not to be taken for favouring though, it is just a points system to see how much interaction a user has had with the community. A user with little cycles has probably interacted with the community a lot less than a person with a high amount of cycles. The little arrow beside posts are called upvote buttons. They are the main source of how users get cycles. To find how much cycles you have, just check the number between the parenthesis beside your username. An example would be that my username is ChezCoder (418)
so I would have 418 reputation.
It is earned by answering questions and being upvoted. And Now you can use it for bragging and computer resources.
it is the relatively meaningless number next to your name that people have been obsessing about recently (it is the total amount of your answers on ask that have been accepted (x5) + the number of upvotes that you have)
I think CodingCacfus is talking about me....
@CodeLongAndProsBut what are the computer resources you are talking about?
Ah okay, that’s cool.
@CodeLongAndProsThanks for the info! :)
?
