The repl.it discord server

Today I just created a discord account and I joined the repl it server (I just searched repl it, so I think it's the correct one as it has some repl it users). But I'm so confused. First of all, can members not put messages (if that's what they're called) as it says something like "you are not authorised to post a message in this channel". Next, what is the difference between a server and a channel. Can someone clarify?

You have to wait 10 minutes before being allowed to post, its a security thing (to prevent spammers).

Also, this is a channel:

This is a server:

Servers contain channels that are where you can post messages.

@Coder100 so channels are basically mini servers for various categories in the repl it server

@userSM or if you are noSQL fan,
server = collection
channel = document

https://repl.it/discord that is the official server

A server is like a container for all the channels. And channels are where you send messages
