Run firefox on bash (preferably firefox quantum)

I know I can run the chromium browser on bash with

chromium-browser --no-sandbox

However, it crashes a lot.
Is there a way to run firefox (preferably firefox quantum) on bash because firefox uses a lot less ram and data than chrome?

Type firefox. It's installed on Replit, it'll open in X, though I don't think Quantum is installed.

@19wintersp Oh!

@19wintersp How would I install opera or edge or IE?

The command doesn't exist. Am I writing it wrong?

opera --no-sandbox #or edge --no-sandbox #or ie --no-sandbox

@Baconman321 They haven't been installed, and you probably won't be able to get IE on Linux. If you just want to test out different browsers, I suggest using an online emulator like Browserling. Installing things is still practically impossible on Replit as we don't get root access. You can try install-pkg, though it's unlikely to work.

@19wintersp Ah.

Makes sense.

install-pkg firefox firefox

install just in case, then call it

@CoolCoderSJ Ah, cool!

@CoolCoderSJ ^ firefox is already on Repl, but it's just as bad as chromium-browser, since they're both outdated; trying to install-pkg Servo/Quantum will be much more worthwhile.

@xxpertHacker Huh, cool!

Yea I was wondering if they were outdated...

@xxpertHacker ah yes ive never tried without instaling, so ive always got quantum

Profile icon

@CoolCoderSJ Wait, install-pkg firefox yields Quantum? Is FF itself Quantum, or are there seperate builds?

Profile icon
Baconman321

@xxpertHacker FF quantum I believe is a new version of FF

Profile icon
CoolCoderSJ

@Baconman321 @xxpertHacker yes, i think somewhere in the 60s and above they renamed it to FF Quantum

Profile icon
xxpertHacker

@CoolCoderSJ Ah, that'd make more sense, it's just the same build as I'd thought, but I was wondering why they wouldn't have renamed the package. But whatever.

You can run x-www-browser

@SwellCoding I will have to look into that. However, this has been answered and I know how to run firefox now.

Btw, chromium-browser only crashes due to lack of memory, just pass in more via CLI flags smth like --max-unused-memory iirc.

Profile icon
Baconman321

@xxpertHacker Yea, probably.

That's why I wanted firefox (I heard it uses less memory and such than chromium).

Profile icon
Baconman321

@xxpertHacker Like --max-unused-memory: 100000 (that doesn't look right)?

@Baconman321

Hmm... wonder where you heard that from...

Profile icon

@Baconman321 That's not bash :/

--max-unused-memory=4096
