Login System
QuickV

EDIT: THIS IS DEAD STOP COMMENTING ON THIS UNLESS YOU WANT TO GIVE ME RANDOM PINGS LOL.

Anyone

know any good tutorials to making an extremely simple super basic login system using JavaScript on Replit?

Or does

Anyone wanna help me make an extremely simple one?

Warning/Disclaimer: If you want to help me make one, note that you might have to explain how it works and what you're doing every five minutes like 50 times for me to fully understand it,

because I want to actually know how it works and what's happening (so I can improve my noob coding skills, and improve/add on to it in the future)!

uh i have a not super simple one you can see if you look at my profile. The thing is, it is impossible to do it with just javascript because javascript is only client-side. You will either need javascript to connect to something with an http request and then make a separate backend or you would need to learn php and run something server-side with python or SQL

I can demonstrate a NoSQL login mechanism with some difficulty. I'd have to do some research, but I've already set up GitHub authentication, so it'd just be a matter of tweaking a few things.https://2player.co

QuickV

nice! but this post is dead and I don't really care about it rn, maybe later tho :)

@QuickV I can, with a little difficulty, show you a login system using NoSQL. Id need to figure things out a little BUT i have done github auth, so it would juts be changing a few components.

One of the most popular tutorial on login forms:

PixiGem

@OldWizard209 hmmmm he means a functional one, not design

QuickV

Lol I was gonna say that, but designs are important too :D @PixiGem

PixiGem

@QuickV yeah lol

Highwayman

There should be a tutorial on this in repltalk tutorials section- at least I'm pretty sure I remember seeing one before. Have you searched there yet?

Highwayman

like does this work?
@Highwayman

QuickV

perhaps... I guess?... kind of..

@Highwayman

QuickV

Have you searched there yet?

Actually I haven't...

@Highwayman

Highwayman

lol. I definitely suggest you do take a look at the tutorials page, though after taking a second look at that specific one I linked...it looks a bit too janky for your purposes.

@QuickV

random question: is Repl Auth secure 🤔 @Highwayman

Highwayman

I'm going to say yes...with one caveat: Replit warns us to always handle the process on the server-side of things. I'm not entirely sure what they are getting at, because that seems pretty obvious to me, but uh...yeah.. You might want to take a look at their doc page for Repl Auth to get their exact wording- I forget what it was. @QuickV

QuickV

with one caveat

hmm

that seems pretty obvious to me

not to me #noob

But...

in the end, is it a no then?

xD @Highwayman

Highwayman

lol client side authentication is 100% a meme.

  1. JavaScript do you mean nodejs?
  2. maybe you can try repl auth
QuickV

1: Maybe, because I have literally no idea how I would make this....

2: How do you do that 🤔

Sorry for my noobness btw

@Coder100

QuickV

2: Sorry for the extra ping (I must be annoying), but I think I've figured out the answer to #2 @Coder100
