How do I change the language version for C#

Hello all,
I imported a repl from github that relies on features from c# 8, but it seems that the mono compiler provided on repl.it only supports C# 6. I did some digging, and it seems that I can add a .replit file to change the runtime behavior. How can I modify it to use the C# 8 compiler?

replit uses the mono C# compiler which doesn't support the desired version currently. You can mark this question as correct if it helped.

Alright, guess I'll have to either refactor my code or not use repl.it for this project then
