Cycles?
I've been on repl for a while but I don't know what cycles are. Like i've seen them but I am not sure how to get them/what they are for.
Cycles are free points that you can give to people. Upvoting a comment or post if you think it's good or have the same question gives the user cycles. Marking someone's answer as correct gives them 5 cycles.
Basically it lets people know how active / good / experienced another user is, and also see if they are new to the replit talk page.
Beyond that, they're a useless way to spend your time :D
Thanks guys. I want to get more involved in repl and I saw that a lot of the top contributors had lots of cycles. So I was just wondering what they were.
you can get cycles by answering questions, getting upvotes (pressing the button next to the post name), etc. These have no purpose in repl, and honestly make it a popularity contest.
They don't have any use, but it is rumored that there will be a cycle shop so you can buy hacker
Cycles are basically useless internet reputation points, kinda like karma on reddit or reputation on stack overflow. You get 1 cycle when someone upvotes your post/comment (the arrow next to your post name/comment) or if they select your answer as correct (+5 cycles).
The number of cycles you have are indicated by the number in paranthesis; for example you have 1, and I have a little over 4000.
As I said, cycles do not have any value, thought it is rumored repl.it might add a system to use them or something.
But don't worry too much about cycles, just focus on coding and having fun! :D
