Weekly Challenge #14
h
TheDrone7 (1890)

Hey there replers! 1 weeks ago, we started the 4th batch of repl.it weekly challenges you all are doing pretty good, there were no submissions this week that received a score of 0! (i.e. that got disqualified)

So below are the results for the last weekly challenge aka Weekly Challenge #13.

WEEKLY 13 Results

Here are the results for the weekly challenge #6.

RANK 1 : @lilykhan and @CodingCactus

RANK 2 : @minx28 @dillonjoshua68 @k9chelsea2 and @JDOG787

RANK 3 : @RohilPatel @ThatSmart and @Coder100

In case you did not make into the top 3, you can check out your score at the weekly results website - https://weekly.thedrone7.repl.co

But before that, here's this week's weekly challenge for you all!

Conversion Calculators!

You need to make a conversion calculator. You can choose any physical quantity such as length or weight for this challenge, it is absolutely up to you, literally any physical quantity. The user should be able to convert into scales from at least 3 different units. For example if you choose "length" to be your physical quantity, 3 possible units could be - meters, yards and feet. The user should be able to convert to and from any of the 3 units. meters to yards, meters to feet, feet to meters, feet to yards, yards to meters and yards to feet should all be supported as per this example. As specified earlier, you can choose any physical quantity for this and any 3 units for the quantity.

The challenge will be over exactly a week after this post was created.

SUBMISSION

For submitting your repls, post them on the repl talk share board and ensure that they contain #WEEKLY in their name.

NOTE : You cannot have multiple weekly challenge submissions but if you want to share multiple ways of achieving the goal, you can make regular posts that don't contain #WEEKLY in their name, even WEEKLY is fine.

And that's it for today, code away and have fun replers!

When is weekly challenge 15 going to start?

EpicGamer007 (1765)

How do we see our scores? There is no August panel in the website.

See:

TheDrone7 (1890)

@AbhayBhat that's not right, there should be one.

TheDrone7 (1890)

@TheDrone7 try opening the dev tools networks tab and check disable cache and refresh with it open, I don't think that would make a difference but maybe it will.

TheDrone7 (1890)

@AbhayBhat that actually shouldn't have worked since I wasn't caching anything, browser broke maybe?

EpicGamer007 (1765)

@TheDrone7, Never mind, i was disqualified for the first round, so i would not be there yet, thanks for your help!

EpicGamer007 (1765)

@TheDrone7, i mean, all i did was refresh, then it worked

JosephSanthosh (1181)

Is it too late to do it?!?

JeswinSunsi (31)

Heyyo everyone. A bit late, but I wrote a converter in Python. Its at https://repl.it/talk/share/WEEKLY-A-conversion-calculator-in-Python/50094 . It can convert to 8 different units of length. Thankss

DaLiteralPanda (11)

well time to get hand spans

Wumi4 (531)

Hello everyone!
I have done my conversion calc and publish it, it's a converter that user can convert into scales from 3 time units: second, minute and hour. Please see it here:
https://repl.it/talk/share/WEEKLY-Time-Unit-Converter/49708

CodeLongAndPros (1622)

Can we have 3+ units?

For example:
feet, yards, miles, meters, hectometers, kilometers?

TheDrone7 (1890)

@CodeLongAndPros as said in the post, I only specified the minimum requirements, you can add whatever and however you want to it.

HahaYes (1861)

to how many digits of precision?

TheDrone7 (1890)

@HahaYes your choice. (Preferably at least 2)

HahaYes (1861)

@TheDrone7 okay I'll go use some long long int in C++

Nayoar (574)

Having multiple quantities and more than 3 units for each is allowed, right?

@TheDrone7 and everybody else Hi I made a Python assistant it's called Py_Assist It's alpha so don't expect many features please check it out I posted it 11 hours ago and I got 0 views, Thanks! https://repl.it/talk/share/Py_Assist-Alpha/49557

TheDrone7 (1890)

@ShriyashShukla that's cool but there isn't actually a statistic of how many people viewed, it, we only have upvotes which show how many people liked it. Which in your case is 0 because maybe you posted too early, most people appreciate finished programs or at least ones with something new in them.

[deleted]

@TheDrone7 ok I'll delete it then release it in 6 months

TheDrone7 (1890)

@ShriyashShukla you can just go on working on it, it'll update the post on its own.

[deleted]

@TheDrone7 Hmm ok

[deleted]

@TheDrone7 I also need a team to help me but I don't know anybody else who codes python. And my instructor is busy.

TheDrone7 (1890)

@ShriyashShukla you can join our discord server to meet with other people from the community! Python3 is the most used language on repl.it so I'm sure you'll find lots of friends there.

[deleted]

@TheDrone7 I just told you im not 13

TheDrone7 (1890)

@ShriyashShukla well then I'm afraid, you aren't supposed to be using repl.it either. You need to be at least 13 to use repl.it as well.

[deleted]

@TheDrone7 I PUT ALL MY REPLS IN HERE

[deleted]

@TheDrone7 MY INSTRUCTOR TOLD ME TO USE THIS WHAT?

TheDrone7 (1890)

@ShriyashShukla https://repl.it/site/terms always read the terms of service before registering an account on any website.

ApoorvAgrawal (51)

@ShriyashShukla please don't advertise your repls in someone a comment section

Wumi4 (531)

Can I use Python for this challenge???

dillonjoshua68 (73)

Can we delete the repl after we get the results, so that it won’t take up space? @TheDrone7 or should we still keep the repl

TheDrone7 (1890)

@dillonjoshua68 yep, you only need to wait for that SCORED comment and then you can.

dillonjoshua68 (73)

Thx... btw for my gui todo list I didn’t see scored? @TheDrone7

dillonjoshua68 (73)

But when I came here it was scored @TheDrone7

TheDrone7 (1890)

@dillonjoshua68

NOTE : You cannot have multiple weekly challenge submissions but if you want to share multiple ways of achieving the goal, you can make regular posts that don't contain #WEEKLY in their name, even WEEKLY is fine.

You had already been scored, your other submissions will be ignored.

JDOG787 (435)

yay can't wait! thx! :D

Bookie0 (6250)

is time a physical property? like can I do this challenge with time?

thanks! ;)

TheDrone7 (1890)

@Bookie0 it can be considered as one, yes.

Bookie0 (6250)

ok then, thanks for the info! @TheDrone7

CodeLongAndPros (1622)

Wait, why does the site say:

Home button, not search button

I feel a Layer 8 error coming on...

CodeLongAndPros (1622)

Wait can we convert from any si unit? Or just physical ones?

TheDrone7 (1890)

@CodeLongAndPros for this challenge, physical only.

CodeLongAndPros (1622)

@TheDrone7 Do temporal units count as physical?

Wibbly, Wobbly, Timey Wimey …stuff…
TheDrone7 (1890)

@CodeLongAndPros I guess we could make it work.

CodeLongAndPros (1622)

@TheDrone7 Eh, found some more interesting units

RohilPatel (1581)

Wait, so to confirm, you basically have a user input, and it displays back the conversion that they select? Of which three units must be used to convert between?

TheDrone7 (1890)

@RohilPatel that part is up to you, you can display them all together or let the user choose which they want to view but the user should be able to select what unit they want to enter their input in.

CodingCactus (4355)

lol wut minx only 9? minx was amazing

TheDrone7 (1890)

@CodingCactus minx added a lot of stuff, yes. But most of it was his API, the actual app was pretty dull, not to mention it required discord auth, which can limit to who can and who cannot use it. Repl.it has millions of users and not all of them use discord.

Nayoar (574)

@TheDrone7 wdym most was the API? the API had exactly the same features as the user interface. I see your point about discord auth though - someone suggested on my post to have repl auth as an option as well, but I saw that too late :L

k9chelsea2 (735)

rank 2 what reewgfugudeo thanks wowie
