Introducing Spotlight Pages
tangert (85)

Hi everyone,

As some of you may have seen over the past few days, when you visit someone else's repl, you get a weird new page where you can comment directly on the repl!

Well, these have a name now: Spotlight pages!

As the community grows, we are making sharing and talking centered around repls themselves, not posts. We have several updates coming in the future that you can read about in the announcement blog post.

If you have feedback on the new feature, you can go leave it on its introductory Spotlight page!

Jeydin21 (103)

Wowo can't wait to use this feature to see if repls are forked or not o.O

SilvermoonCat (429)

Yea I just realized my repl already had like 17 forks XD

KobeFF (1260)

I was wondering what that was! Had a notification pop up that someone commented on my repl, not a post and I was like "whaaaaaaaaatttt" lmfao

Kookiez (385)

Although a question is, will they replace repl talk altogether or will both exist?

tangert (85)

@Kookiez The plan is to eventually replace Talk. we're coming up with a transition plan

Kookiez (385)

@tangert When do you plan to replace it, such as a year or so? A problem I've been thinking about are tutorials, because most tutorials on repl.it aren't repls, they're .md files and then how would, in your opinion, implement that?

FloCal35 (472)

So like you search up someones username so you can see their projects and upvote on them @tangert instead of having to post every one

tangert (85)

@Kookiez much sooner than that. yeah, that's a very good point! since every repl talk post has a repl attached to it, we could do something like automatically create a new .md file with the content from your tutorial inside of it.

FlaminHotValdez (430)

@tangert What would happen to Tutorials and Ask boards? And Announcements?

CodingCactus (4138)

@tangert what will happen to repl talk mods : (

JBloves27 (1696)

Hmmm, interesting...

Curious, why spotlight pages?
