Developer Spotlight - Beep Beep Beep Beep Beep Beep Boop!
Heya replers! Sorry, I know its been a while (I tried asking people but they all kept ignoring me :PepeSad:) so this one is a bit delayed but it's here nonetheless! And this time, we got - @SixBeeps! Infamously known for this YouTube Video - The Repl.it Pros.
And here is how the interview went -
@TheDrone7 : Hello there, please introduce yourself to the community!
@SixBeeps : Hey, I'm Brandon Lee, you may know me by my username SixBeeps. I'm from Ohio, currently attending Case Western Reserve University to get my Computer Science degree.
@TheDrone7 : PogU, I just got into a uni myself! Anyways, how be life and how did replit affect it?
@SixBeeps : Life's pretty good. Started coding when I was like 12, but I didn't hear about Replit until I was about 16 in my Sophomore year of HS when our Tech Club had us use it. I became really active on the platform towards the tail end of Junior year when I found out about the magical place called Repl Talk. Since then, I've been hanging out in the community through both RT and Discord. Seen many people come and go, but I've met a lot of cool peeps over the years. Other than the community, Replit is my go-to IDE for when I wanna make something, especially with web projects.
@TheDrone7 : Ohhhhh, what are some of your favorite projects you've worked on?
@SixBeeps : I think my most favorite project on Replit has to be the BASIC Image Printer, which puts images onto the display. That took quite a bit of magic to get it working, but it was worth it in the end. That was back when Replit first introduced BASIC as a language, and I wanted to see how far I could push it.
@SixBeeps : My most popular post on Repl Talk to date is the 2D aim game, which was also made in BASIC. That one was also quite fun to make, though it was nowhere near as complex as the image printer.
@SixBeeps : My team in the Relay Jam that just ended not too long ago also won 1st place [[which I'm sure you're quite familiar with lol]]. The entry that I started, Whisker, a tiny music sequencer, was an interesting one to get off the ground. I'm quite happy with the finished product though, I will admit.
I knew all of these already. I am sure the community is going to love these as much as I did!
Alright then, what are your hobbies, aka, what do you like spending your time on besides hackering?
@SixBeeps : I'm getting more into electronic music production. I'm not too good at it, but it's a fun way to let off some creative steam. In a similar light, I'm also quite big into rhythm games. I used to play a lot of osu! back in high school, but I've been spending time in other games like Quaver and even Friday Night Funkin. When I'm AFK, I'll occasionally pick up a Rubik's Cube and practice a bit of speedcubing.
@TheDrone7 : OwO any music you made or anything related to your hobbies that you'd like to share?
The only thing I wish to add is Grimoire Arena, an FPS TCG https://gamejolt.com/games/Grimoire_Arena/380035
@TheDrone7 : Well then, that's it from me. Do you have a message for the community?
@SixBeeps : Love y'all, wouldn't be where I'm at without you.
And that's it for this week's developer spotlight! If you want to be featured in one of these yourself, be sure to post awesome stuff on repl talk and keep an eye out on your discord DMs and e-mail inbox!
Also, if you have any feedback for the spotlights, be sure to put them in the comments section. Any constructive feedback is always appreciated and be sure to answer the question I asked in the beginning.
Thank you for reading all this. See you all next time with another amazing developer from the community!
