💥 ANNOUNCING KAJAM! 💥
Welcome to KaJam! This is a codejam/hackathon being organized and hosted by replit to celebrate Kaboom.js - A JavaScript game programming library that helps you make games fast and fun (we also like to call these games Ka-Fun)! It was also made by one of our own interns - @slmjkdbtl (don't spam him in comments thank you)!
Anyways, back to the topic, you can find all the important details at https://replit.com/kajam but here is a small summary.
- Schedule : The jam starts on October 18 and ends after 1 week, i.e. on October 25.
- Requirements : Should run on replit.
- Submission : Publish to replit apps with the tag
#kajam2021
. - Results : Who knows?
- **Judges : ** It's a secret!
- **Prizes : ** Why of course, CASH MONIES. There is a $10,000 Grand Prize and Six categorical $1000 prizes so bring out your best game (literally)!
FAQ
Q. Is there a theme? What is it?
A. The theme is (will be announced when jam starts)
. It's open to interpretation. Make a game, a non-game no worries, it just needs to be FUN. As we like to say,
"If it isn't Ka-fun it will go Ka-poof!"
Q. Can I participate in the competition with a team?
A. Yes you can! But the prize will be divided among your teammates. Also, one submission can only get 1 prize.
Q. What requirements does my app need for it to be accepted as a submission?
A. It needs to be able to run on replit, this is a must-have. However, you can use any language, any packages, any libraries, any modules, quite literally anything as long as it runs on replit (or you can make it run on replit our community has turned out to be exceptionally good at doing this)!
And that's it, folks! Again, visit the page for the exact details (if you're confused about time zone and stuff). Good luck and happy hacking! You can ask any additional questions in the comments section but be patient the answers might take a while but they will be answered.
cool!!
when are results announced
What if you win but you don't have a method of receiving cash (I say overly confident)
@TheDNAHero ping me if you get answered :>
@TheDNAHero we obviously won't be giving out 10k USD in cash, we will reach out to the winners and discuss any possible means of transfer and send it out that way.
[email protected] @MrVoo he answered
@TheDrone7 Does this include 10k worth of hacker plan? ;)
@TheDrone7 So no cash, because you're going to need our address and mail it (that's weird). Maybe you can mail a check? Use PayPal or any online methods? I'm just wondering what the method is going to be, or if we will have free choice.
@CodingElf66 free choice. Whatever's convenient
@TheDrone7 Nearly 120 years of hacker plan for first place :}
I was about to ask the same question xD....
@QuickV Im thirteen, so I dont know how to get money when I win

@rickysong wOw what?
@rickysong Aaannnnnndddd...
@Freidnlykid Stop spamming GIFs bro.
@Freidnlykid skid and pump are taller then him
I suck with coding :( (for real)
do we need to be good at coding lol
@HankBrown taking first cs class this year, wondering if I am good enough.
It will be fine @HankBrown
@HankBrown All you need to do for making good games is being creative. You can make amazing games even while new to coding (I speak from experience, games were some of the first things I created).
@HankBrown I would suggest using kaboom.js if you are just starting because it's pretty simple. Phaser.js is a bit more advanced if you want to make complicated games.
@TheDrone7 true, I just started getting back into programming and realized just how I was able to do with the basics
@HankBrown With the power of w3schools.com on my side! I say no.
Hey! would anyone like to team up with me? if not thats ok,but i could be really helpful.
@TheForgottenNPC I would love some help since this is really my first time using any programming language to make a game.
If we feel like it, can we publish a repl (project) that we already made as our submission?
@CodingElf66 You have to make a new project so everyone starts at the same time
@ArtyEevee ...?
How will we know if we won? Will we be contacted through replit or email? Or will our username be posted on the page?
@TheDrone7 is it ok if we work as a team or no? Im asking because i dont want to make the same mistake again.
@StringentDev read.
@TheDrone7 oh lol.
@MaiaLindner_Lia
mass pinging maybe ? @Lily3333333
