Hi all! I'm Luna, I'm a teen from Maine and just like to code, I tend to make myself fluent in as many languages as possible. I heard about this in a coding discord server, and now it's one of my favorite platforms. I started coding after some HTML course in 6th grade, and thats about it, you can ask me anything you want in the replies :)

No offense, but I don't see why the Collatz Conjecture program is featured (epicman's post). It's really easy to make, and if you actually check my repls you will see i have made it as well. I'm just saying, it's kinda too simple and easy to make to be a featured repl. Again, no offense to the creator.

Think a good idea would be to make a bulk buying system, because manually inputting '2' 100 times takes too long, and even longer to finish the 'Your pet gain +1 attack!'. I can see how this would be heard though, so sorry if this isn't possible

Cool! I noticed something though. One line 47, you have: free(list) But I don't think that's enough, because the list memory looks like this: [3] [7] [12] [28] [34] ^ | int* And calling free(list) does this: [ ] [7] [12] [28] [34] ^ | free() But you still have to deallocate the other list elements. So I think you have to loop through the list and free each element.

repl.it should autosave your programs, did something not save?
heyitsmarcus2 years ago
So, the way repl.it works is that once you click on "New Repl" and you pick the language and then you can optionally fill out a name and description then click Submit. Once you click Submit, a new repl is created. If you didn't name the repl, it may go into your "Unnamed" folder on your "my repls" page. And any changes you make inside the repl are automatically saved for you. You never have to click on a save option or do any keyboard shortcuts. The repl tracks changes and saves those automa

Factorials are hard to compute especially by using recursion , I believe changing the return value may increase your range of computability but otherwise stack overflow will lead to segmentation failure
Highwayman2 years ago
It seems to be something about your factorial function. It’s a recursive function, so I’d think it’s a stack overflow or something but that doesn’t make sense because when I tested it with 0, it still crashed. Good luck I guess?

After each operation, put a unique print statement showing you reach and passed that point if execution. Run the program. Then look for which print statements failed and carefully study the operations you did for those print statements. Maybe print extra things like the size of the list and where it is and all that. If the op uses other functions, Maybe put info to output in those.

The compilation is just the generation of executable machine instructions. Whether it be JiT, or AoT, executable code is generated nonetheless. Some would consider outputting Asm to be compiled too, as there is a one-to-one correlation between a binary format and it's Asm textual representation. Although, Asm isn't executable. You could learn binary / Asm and directly output bytecode instructions into a file, but that would be foolish. I recommend looking into compilation libraries like LLVM,

I know that the accepted answer is https://craftinginterpreters.com, but I actually find Nora Sandler's guide https://norasandler.com/2017/11/29/Write-a-Compiler.html very helpful. It sadly isn't complete, but it does a great job of keeping things simple and balancing between showing you stuff and having you do stuff. And, even though Sandler's guide is incomplete, by the end of it I had the knowledge I needed to continue building my compiler. I'm not trying to say that craftinginterpreters i
