A clear path forward

How do I connect a custom domain to my Replit app?

Connect a custom domain from Publishing → Domains in your project. The setup differs depending on where you bought the domain.

If you bought your domain through Replit

Follow the in-product setup in Publishing → Domains. Replit manages your domain's DNS (Domain Name System) records for you, so you do not need to add them yourself. The Domain purchasing guide has more detail.

If you bought your domain elsewhere

Add the records Replit gives you at your DNS provider, where you manage your domain's records:

  1. Open your project and go to Publishing → Domains.
  2. Select Connect your own domain, enter your domain, and continue.
  3. Copy both entries Replit shows: the A (address) record and the TXT (text) record.
  4. Add both records at your DNS provider.
  5. Return to Replit and start verification.

Keep these requirements in mind:

  • Both records are required for a secure connection. For a root domain such as example.com, use an A record. A CNAME record, which is an alias to another domain, is not supported for the root domain.
  • Wildcard certificates, such as *.example.com, are not supported. Connect each subdomain individually.
  • On Cloudflare, set the A record to DNS only so proxy mode does not block the secure connection.
  • DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to reach all servers.

Still stuck? Try troubleshooting with Agent.

Copy this prompt and paste it into Agent. For a project issue, open the project where it happens first. Add what happened and anything you've already tried. Don't include passwords, API keys, database connection strings or payment-card details.

Copying does not open Agent or send a support request. Agent availability and usage depend on your account.
