A clear path forward

Can a chat use a Replit project and an external codebase together?

A conversation can use an accessible Replit project and an external GitHub or GitLab codebase, but you need to say which one should receive the change.

They are different workflows. Changes to a Replit project use that project's task process. Work on an external codebase uses a development sandbox and the repository's pull or merge request process.

  1. Share the exact project and repository links you want Agent to use.
  2. Name the source to learn from and the destination to change. For example, a Replit prototype may be a reference for a feature going into an existing repo.
  3. Confirm access to both, then check that the proposed work targets the intended destination.

Seeing a project's name does not grant access to it. If Agent starts work in the wrong place, correct the target before it continues. A request to change a project is not a request to publish it.

Still stuck? Try troubleshooting with Agent.

Copy this prompt and paste it into Agent. For a project issue, open the project where it happens first. Add what happened and anything you've already tried. Don't include passwords, API keys, database connection strings or payment-card details.

Copying does not open Agent or send a support request. Agent availability and usage depend on your account.
