Agent is looping or repeating the same steps—how do I stop it?

Select Stop in the Agent panel to end the loop, then restart the environment and begin a new chat.

Select Stop in the Agent panel.
Open the command palette with Cmd+K on Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows. Search for Restart compute and select it.
Open a new Agent chat and describe the task more specifically.

To help avoid another loop:

Give Agent one clear goal per message.
Use Plan mode to scope the work before Agent builds.
Set a usage limit through Managing your spend.
